Theresa provides strategies to help prepare for changes in driving status, information about balancing safety and independence, and provides valuable advice from research with people living with dementia and their families.

Doctor Theresa Scott

Doctor Theresa Scott is Senior Lecturer in Clinical Geropsychology and formerly National Health and Medical Research Council (NHMRC) Dementia Research Development Fellow, at The University of Queensland. She is currently leading a coordinated team of researchers, consumers, clinicians, and community care workers in a national, pragmatic cluster randomised controlled trial (cRCT) of a telehealth-delivered driving cessation intervention to carers and people living with dementia. Her broad research expertise is in supporting quality of life of older persons and persons living with dementia.

As an applied researcher, Theresa uses mixed methods and co-design to develop and implement interventions targeted at supporting the functionality and independence of persons living with dementia and their care partners and family members. Her fellowship research focused on delivering driving cessation education and support to people living with dementia, their family members, and health professionals that manage the process. She has published several book chapters, journal articles and presented to national and international audiences on topics related to living with dementia and driving.
