Future Planning: Beyond Diagnosis

This program provides guidance for people living with dementia, their family members and family carers to plan for the future, once they have come to terms with a diagnosis of dementia and understand the symptoms and impacts of dementia.

It includes topics such as accommodation and living arrangements, financial considerations, decision-making, planning health care, options for people in employment, and strategies for communicating and implementing plans. 

Dementia Australia’s facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This program is delivered interactively, you will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.   

Suitable for: People living with dementia and their family carers and family members. Participants should have a good understanding of dementia and feel ready to think about the future in detail.

This program can be delivered on behalf of aged care and disability service providers onsite to people living with dementia and their families. If you would like to discuss onsite delivery, please contact the National Dementia Helpline on 1800 100 500. 

This program is not suitable for professional carers or people employed in the health or aged care industries. The resources, content and delivery will not meet the needs of professionals.
