Appointed as a Non-Executive Director in 2023, Collene’s Independent position was created as part of WaterRA’s commitment to bring First Nations people’s perspectives to all that we do, including decisions at the Board table where our strategy is set and our performance monitored. Collene is a Menang Gnudju yok from Western Australia. Through her work as Director with Wonnil Partners, Collene passionately supports businesses across WA to deliver reconciliation initiatives. Collene also has a long history in leading successful training and employment outcomes for First Nations people. She was the recipient of the 2022 NAIDOC Perth Outstanding Achievement award through her work with Water Corporation leading reconciliation and First Nations engagement and employment outcomes.

Appointed as a Non-Executive Director of WaterRA in 2022, Renee Ingram is the Head of Western Sydney Development at Sydney Water. The west of Sydney is undergoing an exciting transformation with the creation of the Western Parkland City. This ambitious vision is not possible without water. Renee works alongside, and partners with government agencies, developers, and businesses to help forge a liveable and sustainable approach to water servicing for Western Sydney. Renee has been part of the water industry for 14 years and enjoys leading teams that implement innovation and deliver results from collaborative research. She is passionate about creating greener, more sustainable services to allow communities to thrive. Renee served as Company Secretary for Sunwater, is registered with the Australian Institute of Chartered Secretaries and been a Council Member for the Urban Development Institute of Australia (NSW). She is Head of Strategic Finance at Water Corporation in Western Australia and holds key leadership positions on Perth Seawater Desalination Plant and Corporate Water Quality committees. Deb has extensive commercial experience in risk management, banking and finance, both in Australian dollar and foreign currencies. Arash has over 14 years of experience working with academics, government agencies, utilities and industry partners in Australia, Canada and the United States to tackle water treatment challenges. He brings to WaterRA his research expertise in how climate change and harmful algal blooms affect water treatment, removal of combined microbial and chemical contaminants, and reuse opportunities. Arash has been leading and managing projects funded by WaterRA, the Australian Research Council, Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada, and the Water Research Foundation. He has a strong publication record and has frequently been invited to make keynote speeches and conference presentations across the world. He actively volunteers in the water community and contributes as a member of the Australian Water Association, American Water Works Association (AWWA), an International Water Association (IWA) Fellow, and Co-Chief Editor of Water Quality Research Journal, and Guest Editor of a MDPI Water Special Issue.

Marty has over 25 years experience in the water and education sectors. In his role as Research Manager within the Research Services team, he brings a wealth of knowledge in water, wastewater and recycled water processes, catchment management and water quality management systems. For the past 12 years he has led an operations team for a local government utility. During this time Marty has had a particular focus on water quality assurance and treatment process optimisation. He has published and presented on the developing Health Based Targets and treatment process validation. He has also combined his educational experience with the industry need for highly qualified and experienced operators and has been instrumental in developing operator resources and training operators for the water industry. Marty is an experienced science communicator and has shared his water industry experience through forums, conferences and technical training.
